Red, Green, Gold might be the brightest colours on the tree, but nothing can possible beat the ethereal white when it comes to Christmas. But sadly, most of us have been sleeping on the fact that white is very important hsade in the Christmas palate. People might have the notion there is nothing that the idea of a ”White Christmas” is simply boring but we have some things that will make sure that if you’re Christmas has to be white, it is also the most beautiful Christmas you can ever celebrate. If anything, we hope these could be the touches that surely add if not more of a pop of colour, but more spirit to your festive celebration of Christmas.

Ginger Bread House

Christmas is a family holiday, so naturally is deserves to bring to the table a wholesome family snack which could be enjoyed by all its family members. Ginger bread is one such delicacy which is enjoyed by everyone from adults to little tots. Some juts settled for making gingerbread man but why not let the Christmas spirit truly take you over and make the jump to making a full fledged gingerbread house. Now, you can just stick to keeping the icing white or if you want to take to the next level, here is the recipe for making a white ginger breadhouse.

Ingredients

  1. Gingerbread
  2. Titanium Dioxide
  3. Vodka
  4. Paint Brush
  5. One Bowl

Procedure:

Step 1: Make gingerbread according to your own recipe.

Step 2: You can either add Titanium Dioxide right into the mix of that recipe or stick with painting with a brush.

Step 3: Take Titanium dioxide in a bowl.

Step 4: Spray a good amount of vodka to that bowl. It works if you put the vodka in a spritz bottle and add it to the bowl, so that you can enough to the powder without it becoming too overpowering.

Step 5: Mix the powder now along with the vodka, to make a paste. Make sure the paste is thick, rather than being lumpy because lumpiness of the paste can cause uneven strikes which don’t look nice when dried up and it cannot be too thin either or otherwise it will not be enough to cover the whole of the gingerbread.

Step 6: Use a paintbrush to cover the surface of the gingerbread.

Step 7: Now leave for it to dry. If you find cracks, you add another layer to it and let it dry until you are satisfied with its surface. It will take 20 minutes for it to dry.

Note: If your aint mix seems to be drying up and cracking in the bowl right before you’ve had enough to paint the gingerbread, don’t forget to refresh the mix with a timely spritz of vodka.

At the end of this, the result will be the perfect white Gingerbread house.

Eggnog

As far as traditions of Christmas that come in white, eggnog is simply a must have when it comes to drinks. Your traditional eggnog of course starts with eggs, then carries on with a hearty portion of some milk, cream, spices like nutmeg and vanilla and finished off with rum, whisky or brandy. You can either decide to just purchase a carton from the market or if you’re feeling like you would wanna pull up your sleeves and whip up a batch yourself, here is our recipe:

Ingredients

  1. Milk
  2. Light cream
  3. Cinnamon
  4. Cloves
  5. Vanilla Extract
  6. Nutmeg
  7. Egg Yolks
  8. Sugar
  9. Rum

Note: If you are looking to make a more child friendly version of this beverage, you can veto the alcohol from the mix.

Procedure

Step 1: Add milk to a pot and heat

Step 2: Add cinnamon, cloves and vanilla to the milk.

Step 3: Heat till it boils, after which remove it from the heat.

Step 4: In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks.

Step 5: After a round of whisking, add sugar and head back to whisking.

Step 6: When your whisked eggs are ready, gradually add your milk to the egg mixture while mixing.

Step 7: Bring the mixture back onto to the stove and heat it until it becomes into a thick concotion.

Step 8: Strain the concotion to remove the cloves.

Step 9: Add cream, rum and some more of vanilla and nutmeg and stir well.

Step 10: Leave overnight in the refrigerator to cool. By morning, you will find your eggnog ready for you.

Popcorn garlands

Though exactly not white, Popcorn garlands are certainly a kooky addition you want to make to your Christmas celebration. If made with the perfect amount of butter, the popcorn can truly make an wonderful symphony alongside the smell of peppermint and holly. Also, it serves to be a more inexpensive and easy diy hack to decorate your Christmas tree and house and still make it look festive for the holiday season. Here is how you make your own version of popcorn garlands:

Materials needed

  1. Popcorn
  2. A needle
  3. Good amount of string

Procedure

Step 1: Pop your popcorn, using unsalted unbuttered popcorn would be more convenient.

Step 2: Have a right measure of how much popcorn you would like to have depending on the feet of string you will be using. One cup of popcorn can cover up 3 to 4 feet of string.

Note: If you don’t want your popcorn to get soggy, make sure to keep the popcorn on a paper towel lined plate or dish which makes sure that the oil will be absorbed.

Step 3: After you’re done making your popcorn, look through for the most blossomed flower shaped ones while you can dispose of ones which have gotten burnt or misshaped.

Step 4: Grab a needle and put a string through it to be knotted.

Step 5: As soon as you as you have your needle ready, you can start inserting popcorn onto the string.

Step 6: Freshly made popcorn can be bit more delicate and hence, if you set your popcorn garland aside for one or two days before you use it as decorations in order to prevent them from breaking away from the string.

Step 7: When you’re done with adding all your popcorn, make sure to knot the end to finish with your Christmas popcorn garland.

When you are decorating your tree or your house, make sure you are putting your popcorn garland first instead of adding it after you are done adding all your other ornaments or decorations. This way, you can avoid it looking more cluttered.

Snow

Well, we don’t think Christmas is complete if you don’t have some snow to show for it and if we’re talking about White Christmas, we all snow is what truly makes a White Christmas what it is. If you want to decorate the inside of your house you can always diy paper snowflakes or maybe even find lights that are shaped like snow flakes in the market. Now, that’s what we can call the real cherry on the top.

White can mean so many different things, especially when it comes to Christmas. It could mean something pure as a newborn baby, or can be taken as light coming to brighten the darkness of the world. Or it could just be the touch of fairy dust you needed to make your Christmas memorable this year.
