Things to remember which will help you really start relaxing when you are free

Taking time off for yourself shouldn’t be such a sin, and wanting to enjoy it shouldn’t be such a pain as well. Here are some tips for you to calm down and take care of yourself.

Kill the Buzz

Yes, phones are a real distraction. Your phone works as an automatic reminder of work, social life and other commitments you might have. Ditching your phone is the only way you can free your mind of such stress and give you space to appreciate other things. Keeping the phone down itself lifts a weight off your shoulders.

Make a checklist

In order to enjoy your free time, you can start with those things that you have ignored till now due to your busy schedule and would look forward to taking up. It could be anything that you take pleasure in doing like watching a movie, eating your favourite dinner or even laundry. Make a list of these things to do, its okay if you don’t get to everything but make sure you have fun.

You are the boss here and you decide what you want

When it comes to your free time, the first thing you have to prioritise is yourself. In no way you should ever let yourself feel guilty for taking time off for yourself. At this time, workaholism and hustle culture has been glamorised to a dangerous extent. This throws the idea of relaxation and taking care of yourself right out of the window. This is why you need to keep in mind that you and your needs should always come first.

There are no goals in sight

When you decide to take downtime for yourself, it doesn’t bring a path that would possibly lead to self-actualisation. It is just some time that could help you relax yourself before you return to the daily realities of your life. It is said to be good if you do not engage yourself in any activity that might be more stimulative or energy-draining like sports. Downtime is about recharging yourself than being productive in any way.

Do something that you enjoy

If you are looking to flush all your worries of guilt and procrastination, then all you have to do is to do something that you would really love. That way, you would be enjoy doing it and will feel refreshed from it. You would feel active and mentally, you will not feel like it was a waste of time.

Hope these 5 simple tips helped you relax and take things easy. Letting yourself throw your head back and calm down is not much to ask, so start your own down time with no more second thoughts.
