In a candid conversation with Brenda Prates, Asia-based influencer and fashion enthusiast, she sheds light on her journey in the fashion industry. From her passion for styling unique looks to her dedication to sustainable fashion, Brenda shares insights into her life, career, and perspective on beauty in the digital age.

Brenda reveals that her unique style as a fashion influencer stems from her lifelong passion for fashion. “I’ve always been passionate about fashion since I was a child. I saw an opportunity to show and influence people through social media, and that’s how I created my community. I love putting together looks and connecting with people who love fashion and identify with my style. For me, it’s all about having your own personality, being original, and knowing how to represent your essence in each look,” she says. For Brenda, the most rewarding aspect of creating fashion content is the opportunities it brings. “Today, I work with major fashion brands from all over the world, and it’s all thanks to my content. It’s incredible to connect with and inspire so many people globally, especially coming from a small town in the countryside of São Paulo where opportunities were limited. I’ve dedicated myself to this, and it’s amazing to have achieved success through fashion.”

When it comes to current trends, Brenda expresses her love for street fashion, circular fashion, and metallics. She elaborates on her process for styling a look, saying, “I love looking for references and inspiration for looks on the internet. It’s all within my style, whatever comes to mind and feels right, I’ll wear it.” Staying inspired in a fast-paced industry is no small feat, but Brenda credits social media and her dedication to studying fashion trends. “I always keep up with the catwalks and immerse myself in learning about fashion.”

Sustainability plays a crucial role in Brenda’s approach to fashion. “I think it’s very important to be concerned about using methods that minimise environmental impacts generated in the manufacturing process,” she says. However, challenges persist, particularly when working with fast fashion. Brenda admits, “It’s a big challenge considering the environmental impact caused by the fashion industry.” Dealing with the fast pace of evolving trends is another demanding aspect of her work. “Fashion trends are more diverse than ever, with a mix of styles, new designs, and cultural influences. It’s crazy to keep up with it all, but it’s part of the job. In fact, I’m studying to be a cool hunter and want to become a trend hunter,” she shares.

Brenda also opens up about how social media has shaped her perspective on beauty and body image. “Social media has definitely expanded insecurities and heightened aesthetic pressure. There was a time when I used a lot of filters in my photos, but nowadays, I don’t have that problem. It’s complicated because I work with my image, but I’ve come to like myself as I am. I have no reason to use absurd filters or consider aesthetic changes,” she says.

For young fashion enthusiasts looking to make their mark, Brenda offers sage advice: “Study the market. Dress according to your personality rather than simply following trends. Fashion is a powerful way to express yourself, build self-esteem, and discover self-knowledge. It’s also a form of non-verbal communication and a way to connect with others.” Brenda Prates continues to inspire her audience with her innovative style, commitment to authenticity, and dedication to reshaping the fashion landscape.
