Between all that, we wouldn’t blame you if you forget about your stomach rumbling, which only seems to grow louder and again, we wouldn’t hold it against you if you’re in the mood for a breakfast which is nothing less than a meal fit for a king. Here are some breakfast items that are must haves on the dining table for Christmas morning.
Hot chocolate with marshmellows
If there’s any season which gives us a free pass on unlimited supply of hot chocolate, tis the season of Christmas and, we need no one to tell us to be more than generous when it vomes to chocolate. If the excitement from unwrapping your presents haven’t awoken you up yet, then we know a cup of hot chocolate will get you up and going. Whether you plan on putting some of it on a kettle at home or order some up to your room while you cozy in deeper into your bed in some faraway inn, in some small faraway town for the holidays, you can find that a mug of hot chocolate goes perfect with the view of the white snow falling outside.
Eggs and bacon
We would if we could just survive on sugary sweets, but you need your protein one way or another and that’s when eggs and bacon come in. An piping hot plate of eggs and bacon is the best thing you can ask for in the middle of the frosty cold winter. It helps that it only takes cracking a few eggs and frying some fat to get the satisfaction that any other gourmet meal you can afford. With all the gooey cookies and creamy eggnog from the other night’s Christmas party, eggs and bacon give you the perfect salty break and ends up refreshing your palate for yet another day of celebrations. If you are looking for something which is more fancier for the occasion, you can always try some classic egg dishes like eggs Benedict, a breakfast frittata or even a spinach egg quiche. Besides, there’s a reason why eggs and bacon are the perfect breakfast meal. They are true to the words ‘timeless’.
Pancakes
Grab a can of frosting, a jug of maple of syrup and a handful of candy canes, you will fidn that you have the right equipment to detonate an absolute sugar coma or in other words, decorate the most hearty plate of Christmas pancakes. With pancakes, you can get absolutely creative: Santa pancakes, Christmas tree pancakes, Reindeer pancakes, we can keep goimg on with the list. You can even experiment with flavours such as Gingerbread pancakes, Cinnamon pancakes and even pumpkin pancakes. And if you’re in the mood for a shower of snow, you might want to grab a sprinkler of powdered sugar and we know we wouldn’t have any objections if you decide that you want to let it snow, snow, snow.
Gingerbread spiced Cinnamon Rolls
We can’t avoid something with the hint of gingerbread when it comes to Christmas and if its not going to make it in your pancakes, then we have better plans for it anyway. Staying on the theme of everything snowy for the season, the first thing that hits your eyes with this dish the layer of withery cream cheese and coconut shavings whoch gives it the look as if they’ve caught a serious case of frosty tips but as soon as you bite into one of these cinnamon rolls, the warmth coming from the them makes you feel just as wholesome as their fluffy and buttery insides. We know that long after breakfast, you will be reaching for seconds with this dish.
Banana Bread and mince meat
Banana bread might not be on the top of your list of dishes for breakfast, but alone on the list for Christmas delights but if you are willing to give it a try, we bet it will have you scrambling for more. The pairing of banana bread and mince meat is nothing less than abnormal by the sound of it, but it is brings the right balance of the flavours between the sweet tang of the the bread and the sober spice of the meat as well as in terms of texture what with the soft pillowy bread which just lets your teeth sink into it as you bite into it, topped with the brisker mince meat. Its a delicacy that has to tried to really know, more than it could be described.
Breakfast Casserole
Each dish has its own taste, but with an breakfast casserole, you can testify to the fact that it has a whole symphony of flavours going on. If you looking for some crunch, you have the welll cooked crispiness of the onions and if you are looking for that punch of spice, that’s where the bell peppers swoop in. To accompany all these great ingredients, we have smoky sausages which is thick with flavour, a scrumptious spew of fresh veggies which serve to freshen up your taste buds and all these wonderful components are melded together with a lovely cheese sauce the least of which it could do is to make you moan. There’s nothing as fulfilling than a breakfast casserole.
Cranberry mimosas
If you are looking to have something lighter on your stomach in terms of drinks, you can trade in your hot cup of cocoa for a tall flute of cranberry mimosa. Keeping with the festive time, we are switching out the orange for cranberries from the usual recipe for orange mimosas yet we can’t deny it that the deep tartness of the mimosa fleshes out more of the other flavours of the dishes on the breakfast table and still acts as the perfect palate cleanser. It is known as the poinsetta cocktail or the Christmas mimosa, but we don’t think that the idea of making these holiday favourites all year around hasn’t come to your mind once or twice till now.
We hope that we have your breakfast all set for this year’s Christmas morning, but if you really are looking forward to all of these delicacies that we listed out above, we would say no one would mind if you wanted to get a headstart and whip up a dish or two from here just to try it out. We are sure when we say that none of these dishes would fail to impress and you’ll know what we are talking about all along once you get two or three bites in.
